About the Project

Identified as US-34 North & South, Seward, the project will reconstruct approximately 1.1 miles and resurface 0.4 miles of Nebraska Highway 15 (N-15). The reconstruction segment will build a new concrete roadway starting just south of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad crossing at mile marker (MM) 66.22 and extend north to MM 67.32 just beyond the intersection of N-15 and North Avenue. The resurfacing segment will overlay the roadway with asphalt from the reconstruction section (MM 67.32) to just north of Pinewood Avenue (MM 67.69).

 

 

Project Updates

April 9, 2024

Weather permitting, the south half of the US-34 and N-15 intersection will be closed for construction, starting Monday, April 15. Eastbound and westbound traffic on US-34 will be shifted to the north side of the intersection and will be in a head-to-head configuration with lane delineation. N-15, south of US-34, will remain closed. Northbound and southbound N-15 traffic will remain detoured using Izaak Walton Road, 294th Street and US-34 during this phase of construction. The city is currently working with NDOT to install "No Parking" signs along 2nd Street in preparation for the next phases and detour of the Highway 15 construction project. These signs will be enforced, so please pay attention as they get installed. Also next week, a double yellow centerline will be installed making it illegal to cross over center of the road. Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through this project.

 

March 27, 2024

Beginning Monday, April 1, 2024, Highway 15 will be closed to through traffic from Izaak Walton Road to Highway 34. Local traffic will be allowed from Izaak Walton up to Dollar General and Gerhold Concrete. The Detour will be Izaak Walton, 294th and Highway 34. At the same time the inside lanes from 7th to 5th will be closed for the removal and replacement of the raised median on highway 34. The city will also have some lane shifts north of the Highway 34 intersection. Please use caution through the work zones and thank you for your patience during construction.
