About the Project

The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) will construct a 4-lane expressway with a 40-foot depressed median west of the Monitor Road intersection to Engleman Road. A 30-foot raised median would be constructed from Engleman Road to Claude Road. Additional work would include the realignment of North Road, and Stolley Park Road to line up perpendicular to the proposed US-30 alignment. A portion of Monitor Road would be realigned to accommodate the proposed US-30 alignment.

 

 

Project Updates

 

November 26, 2024

Stolley Park Road will be open to traffic Nov. 27, from Freedom Drive west of US-30 to Engelman Road, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Werner Construction of Hastings will open Stolley Park Road west of US-30 at Freedom Drive to Engelman Road. Werner Construction will remove the existing barricades, and traffic will resume on Stolley Park Road through the new US-30 intersection. Minor work will continue on US-30 through the winter 2024-2025. The project will resume full construction spring 2025. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.

 

September 16, 2024

Weather permitting, work will begin Sept. 23 on Stolley Park Road, from Freedom Drive west of US-30 to Engelman Road, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Werner Construction of Hastings is the contractor. Stolley Park Road will be closed west of US-30 at Freedom Drive to about 2,000 feet east of Engelman Road. The contractor will remove the existing asphalt on Stolley Park Road where US-30 will be realigned with the new 4-lane divided highway and replace with 8-inch doweled concrete pavement on stabilized subgrade. Stolley Park Road could be closed up to 120 days during the construction of the new intersection. Motorists are asked to use an alternate route during the construction of the new pavement. Traffic will be maintained on Stolley Park Road with temporary traffic controls and signs. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.

 

April 8, 2024

Weather permitting, work will begin April 15 on US-30, west of Grand Island, from mile marker 308.84 to mile marker 312.55, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Werner Construction of Hastings is the contractor for this project. US-30 will be realigned. A new 4-lane divided urban highway section will be constructed with 10” doweled concrete pavement placed on stabilized subgrade. Monitor Road east and west of the Husker Hwy intersection will be realigned, and 1” gravel surface course will be placed. North Road from Stauss to Reuting will be realigned and constructed with 8” doweled concrete pavement. Engelman Road, Stolley Park Road and Husker Hwy intersections with the new US-30 alignment will be reconstructed with 8” doweled concrete pavement. Additional work will include culverts, storm sewer, lighting, MSE wall, erosion control and seeding. Traffic will be maintained on US-30 with temporary traffic controls and signs. Anticipated completion is June of 2026. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
