Project Updates

February 25, 2022

Weather permitting, on or about March 3, the I-129 bridge over Dakota Avenue (westbound) will be re-opened to two lanes. The westbound Dry Lake Bridge lane closure will be extended to the east to encompass the westbound Railroad Bridge. Traffic will be restricted to the inside lane while work continues in the outside lane. As a result, the on-ramp from Dakota Avenue to westbound I-129 will be closed and a detour will be in place. Dakota Avenue traffic traveling west, will detour into Iowa, using the loop or the ramp from Dakota Avenue, then travel east to the I-29/I-129 junction loops and then back to I-129. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.

October 25, 2021

Weather permitting, the evening of November 1, 2021, an overhead sign structure will be erected in the southbound lanes of Highway 77 at approximately mile marker 185.85. Highway 77 southbound will be closed at the intersection of South Ridge Drive/Futures Drive. The westbound ramp from Highway 77 will also be closed. Traffic will be detoured west on 29th Street (Old Highway 20) to the intersection of Highway 20 by Martin Airfield. Traffic can then proceed west on Highway 20, east on Highway 20/ I-129 or east on Highway 20 and then south on Highway 75. The affected section of highway will be closed for approximately three hours, overnight, when traffic volumes are low. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.

September 28, 2021

Weather permitting, during the week of October 4, traffic on the westbound Dakota Avenue bridge will be switched to the inside lane to allow for the beginning of phase 2 work. Work is also starting on the Dry Lake eastbound bridge. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.

July 22, 2021

Avenue C on I-129 will be opening later today. Work is currently underway on the Dakota Avenue bridges. Work on the project will continue in phases until 2023. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.

June 21, 2021

Weather permitting, on Thursday, June 24, traffic on Dakota Avenue westbound bridge will be reduced to one lane. The inside lane will be closed, and traffic will travel on the outside lane. Closure is necessary to complete bridge work; anticipated completion is early fall. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
