Let Your Imagination Take Flight!
The annual FAI International Aviation Art Contest is a global competition that invites youth aged 6-17 to explore the world of aviation through art. The 2025 theme is Women with Wings. From record-breaking flights to skydiving formations, Women with Wings prove that the sky is for everyone. Show how their love for flight has inspired generations.
Artists compete locally, nationally, and internationally. At the state level, which has been sponsored by NDOT's Division of Aeronautics since 1986, winners are selected in three age categories: Junior (6–9), Intermediate (10–13), and Senior (14–17).
The national competition, sponsored by the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) and the National Aeronautic Association (NAA), brings together the winning entries from all states to Washington D.C., where the top three winners in each age category are selected. The national winners’ artwork is forwarded to the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), hosts of the International Aviation Art Contest, which typically sees participation from 20 to 40 countries annually.
Nebraska has had two winners at the national level, and one at the international level. Rules and guidelines can be found on the FAI website. Entries for the 2025 contest were due Jan. 7.
