Maturity Method Field Monitoring

The maturity method is a simple technique used to predict concrete strength in place of conventional cylinder testing. Certification is required for all individuals using the maturity method.

Individuals certified in NDOT Maturity Method Field Monitoring will understand the basic principles, terminology, and application of the maturity method. Participants will gain the knowledge and tools needed to install monitoring wires, use instrumentation to track concrete placement temperatures, calculate the Time-Temperature Factor (TTF), and document test data.

Topics include:

  • Monitoring concrete temperatures
  • Instrument setup
  • Time-Temperature Factor calculations
  • Data documentation procedures

Additional Information:

  • Please note: The training video demonstrates the maturity monitoring process but does not reflect all current instrumentation and newer technologies available for maturity monitoring. However, the overall process remains the same.
  • The video references SiteManager for data entry; however, AASHTOWare Project (AWP) is now the materials data management system. Data entry procedures remain similar, but users should enter maturity test data using the Agency View in AWP.
