Help Shape Intercity Bus Service in Nebraska

The Nebraska Department of Transportation, in partnership with the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Center for Public Affairs Research, is conducting a study on intercity bus services across Nebraska.

We’re seeking input from community members and stakeholders to better understand transportation needs — especially in rural areas.

Note: On April 1, 2026, current intercity bus providers, transit providers, and Economic Development District leaders will receive an email with a link to a survey tailored to their role. Please complete the survey by April 30, 2026. If we do not receive a response, we will assume no unmet intercity transportation needs have been identified in your area.

Why Your Input Matters
  • Helps identify gaps in rural transportation
  • Guides how state and federal funding is used
  • Supports connections to the national intercity bus network

Take the Survey

  • Time: Approximately 15 minutes

About the Study

NDOT administers Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5311(f) funding for intercity bus service. By using these services many Nebraska residents can reach key connecting points for more distant travel. This survey is an important element of the consultation process required under this program.

This study helps determine:

  • Whether current services should be maintained
  • Where expanded connections are needed to connect rural areas with the intercity bus network
